NEW
ROCHELLE, NY and HOUSTON, TX June 3, 2003
The Medical Letter announced today that it has partnered with RTRx,
a leading electronic prescription writing service, to introduce
a new prescribing resource. Physicians can now access drug prescribing
recommendations and information from The Medical Letter on Drugs
and Therapeutics and Treatment Guidelines from The Medical
Letter for each drug being prescribed through the RTRx electronic
prescribing system.
"Access
to unbiased information at the point of prescription writing is
the most effective way to ensure that all facets of a patient's
needs are being met," said Gianna Zuccotti, M.D., M.P.H., Deputy
Editor of The Medical Letter and Treatment Guidelines.
"Whether a physician is seeking information on prescribing
recommendations, adverse events or retail price comparisons, this
new feature offers the resources necessary for physicians to provide
patients with the best possible care."
"RTRx
was designed to help eliminate prescribing errors and the resultant
re-work and pharmacy phone calls in the physicians office,"
said Lawrence Susnow, M.D., President and Chief Medical Officer
of RTRx. "Picking the right drug for the right patient isn't
always easy. The Medical Letter will provide a higher level of sophistication
to help make that decision. Better information supports our goal
of better medication choices."
About
the new feature
The RTRx electronic prescription management system provides
physicians with a link to Medical Letter online content next to
each drug name. When the link is clicked, Medical Letter online
archives are automatically searched for all articles pertaining
to that drug. (Visit www.RTRx.com
for a live demo.) If the RTRx user is a subscriber to The Medical
Letter or Treatment Guidelines, the physician can then
access the articles by clicking on those they are interested in.
