THE MEDICAL LETTER NAMES
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- December 18, 2002 -- The Medical Letter, Inc. announced today the appointment of Joanne Valentino as Director of Marketing and Communications. In her new position, Ms. Valentino will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing plans, designing direct marketing campaigns and managing external communications. Ms. Valentino will succeed Josephine Piccolomo, Director of Marketing, who is retiring after serving more than thirty years at The Medical Letter. The Medical Letter is a leading provider of unbiased, critical evaluation of drugs to the medical community.

"Joanne's background in publication marketing makes her the ideal person for this position and a valuable asset to The Medical Letter," said Doris Peter, Ph.D., Publisher, The Medical Letter. Prior to being named Director of Marketing and Communications, Valentino served as Senior Marketing Manager at The Medical Letter. Before joining The Medical Letter, Ms. Valentino was Marketing Manager at Simba Information where she was responsible for executing marketing plans for six business-to-business newsletters and annual research reports. Ms. Valentino began her marketing career at Physicians Buying Alliance as Marketing Assistant. In this position she managed new business development. She has also held positions at Money Mailer and RFT Music Publishing Corporation.
