The FDA has approved ganaxolone (Ztalmy – Marinus) for oral treatment of seizures associated with cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5 (CDKL5) deficiency disorder in patients ≥2 years old. It is the first drug to be approved in the US for this indication.

The FDA has approved use of oral leucovorin calcium (folinic acid) for treatment of cerebral folate transport deficiency in patients who have a confirmed variant in the folate receptor 1 gene (FOLR1-CFTD). It is the first drug to be approved for this extremely rare disorder.

The FDA has authorized use of the Valeda Light Delivery System (LumiThera), a multiwavelength photobiomodulation (PBM) device, to improve visual acuity in patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) who have best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 20/32 to 20/70.
